Gufa Restaurant: Tricked

Tonight me and my wife dined at the Gufa restaurant in Jayanagar, Bangalore. The restaurant is located on the 5th floor of The President Hotel.

The lady wanted a mocktail and since we couldn’t get much choices in the menu, we asked the barman to recommend something nice. The prices of most drinks – cocktails and mocktails – mentioned in the menu were around Rs.180-200. A few of the cocktails went up to Rs.400, but that was the maximum price on the menu, if I remember well. The barman recommended a drink, and we foolishly assumed that it would priced similar to the other mocktails on the menu. You get where this is going, rt? When the cheque came, our innocuous-looking mango-flavored mocktail was priced at Rs.450! 😮 That was more than twice the average price on the menu.

I think he tricked us. 😦

Note to self: When eating out, ask for the price of the dish/drink the waiter/barman recommends.

PS: The food was kinda OK; the ambiance had some novelty to it.

I completely agree ! with this comments. Infact I countered the same last night..when we
requested the barmen to suggest some non-veg platter, he recommended seafood platter,
which was not listed in the menu. While receiving bill, we were charged Rs 1800/- for one
plate… which 200% more of avg menu cost of non-veg platter.. pls be careful

Well, sorry for the bad experience, but I have a different opinion of the restaurant. Me and my husband had lunch there and we ordered some starters. The waiter suggested that it will be very heavy for two people and asked us to go for something else. This was the first time I came across a waiter who was thinking about customers.

we went to copper chimney ..
all dishes are like 250 or 300 .. in that range.

we asked the waiter to suggest a dish .. it was “king size jhinga masala”

we lost our senses when we studied the bill ..

it priced at Rs 850/- (1 dish conatins 4 jhingas, thats it!)
